The Church “Looked At” Jesus through Mary

In their midst Mary was “devoted to prayer” as the “mother of Jesus” (cf. Acts 1:13-14), the mother of the Crucified and Risen Christ.

And that first group of disciples who in faith looked upon Jesus as the author of salvation, knew that Jesus was the Son of Mary, and that she was His Mother, and that as such she was from the moment of His conception and birth a unique witness to the mystery of Jesus - that mystery which before their eyes had been disclosed and confirmed in the Cross and Resurrection.

Thus, from the very first moment, the Church “looked at” Mary through Jesus, just as the Church “looked at” Jesus through Mary.

Mother of Light

When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” (John 19:26-27)

Mother of Jesus - Mother of LightMary, Mother of Jesus, is the gateway of God. It was through her that the eternal light of Jesus Christ entered the world.  Recognized throughout the world as the Mother of God, the most Holy Vessel of Light, as well as the Virgin Mary, the miracle of Mary did not end with the earthly birth and life of Jesus. Since the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ there has been more than one miraculous appearance of the Virgin Mary and countless miracles are attributed to the eternal grace of her infinite presence, love, and compassion.  Truly, Mary is a mystical demonstration of the unlimited grace and light of God.  As Jesus points out, his mother is the mother of everyone, revealing the light that unites us all to the infinite light of God – a demonstration of eternal life.

Mary, for Jesus My Redeemer, Make My Heart White like a Lily (II)

White Lilys. O Blessed Virgin, my tender Mother, for Jesus my Redeemer make my heart like a violet and white like a very pure lily. For Him, O my Mother, make my whole being white and humble.

I surprise people by saying that I live to die, that death is a grand idea for me and the direction of my life.

Death is the ultimate grace, the crowning of our Christian life. It is not the end, as many unfortunate souls still too often think. It is the beginning of a beautiful new birth.

Benedict XVI's Easter Message

"A Renewed Witness to the Resurrection of Christ"

VATICAN CITY, APRIL 8, 2007 - Here is a Vatican translation of Benedict XVI's Easter message delivered today at midday before he imparted his blessing "urbi et orbi" (to the city of Rome and the world).

Dear brothers and sisters throughout the world,
Men and women of good will!

Christ is risen! Peace to you! Today we celebrate the great mystery, the foundation of Christian faith and hope: Jesus of Nazareth, the Crucified One, has risen from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures. We listen today with renewed emotion to the announcement proclaimed by the angels on the dawn of the first day after the Sabbath, to Mary of Magdala and to the women at the sepulcher: "Why do you search among the dead for one who is alive? He is not here, he is risen!" (Luke 24:5-6).

Mary, First Witness of the Resurrection

By Pope John Paul II
Saturday, 07 April 2007

After Jesus had been laid in the tomb, Mary "alone remains to keep alive the flame of faith, preparing to receive the joyful and astonishing announcement of the Resurrection." (1) The expectation felt on Holy Saturday is one of the loftiest moments of faith for the Mother of the Lord: in the darkness that envelops the world, she entrusts herself fully to the God of life, and thinking back to the words of her Son, she hopes in the fulfillment of the divine promises.

Dear children,

Mirjana Soldo Do not be of a hard heart towards the mercy of God, which has been pouring upon you for so much of your time. In this special time of prayer, permit me to transform your hearts that you may help me to have my Son resurrect in all hearts, and that my heart may triumph. Thank you.

Our Lady added:
Your shepherds need your prayers.

Our Lady blessed all those present and all religious articles emphasizing that hers is a motherly blessing and that the greatest blessing is that of a priest.

“Dear children! With joy I am with you also today and I call all of you, little children, pray, pray, pray so as to comprehend the love which I have for you. My love is stronger than evil, little children, therefore draw closer to God so as to feel my joy in God. Without God, little children, you do not have a future, you do not have hope or salvation; therefore leave evil and choose good. I am with you and, with you, I intercede before God for all of your needs. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

MARIAN CONSECRATION

I, (name), a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in your hands, O Immaculate Mother, the vows of my Baptism; I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works; and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before.
In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose you this day for my Mother and Queen. I deliver and consecrate to you, as your slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present, and future; leaving to you the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to your good pleasure, for the greater glory of God, in time and eternity. Amen.
