Fr. Jozo Vasilj, Ph.D,
Dear friends,
Fr. Jozo Vasilj, Ph.D, R.I.P. Another good man was called by God to move on, Fr. Jozo Vasilj, Ph.D, (1943-2007) has past away this morning. Fr. Jozo spent most of his life in Africa as one of the Franciscans who offered their life to help the poor and needy in Africa. Fr. Jozo was teaching at the University of Mostar. The love he shared is immeasurable, his kindness and humbleness was an example to most of the people that where fortunate enough to have known him. He will truly be missed by my family and by all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace.

Holy Father Benedict XVI prayed in front of an image of Our Lady of Medjugorje

Pope Benedict XVI The Web portal of Radio Vatican reports in a text of July 21, 2007, that the Pope Benedict XVI, in Lorenzago di Cadore where he is staying until July 27, spent one hour in prayer in front of an image of Our Lady of Medjugorje.

Radio Vatican is saying that it was a very poignant moment.

„The Pope went to the small chapel in the forest and prayed in front of the image of Our Lady of Medjugorje. An interesting story is connected with this image: it was brought in the 80’s and was stolen. After some time, the thief brought it back to the small chapel. The Pope prayed the Rosary and spent there about one hour”, says the journalist of Radio Vatican.

Pastoral staff changes

I was just informed by the dean of our deanery Fr. Mika Stojic that pastoral staff changes in Medjugorje are official. The new pastor was assigned; his name is Fr. Petar Vlasic. He has been in Medjugorje for several years now; he was the assistant priest to the previous pastor.

Fr. Danko Perutina was also transferred to Medjugorje, a young priest that has a masters degree in Mariology.

Fr. Ljubo Kurtovic was transferred out of Medjugorje and he was sent to Zagreb. He will be working with the young Franciscan Friers that study theology in Zagreb.

Why I Love You O Mary
Oh, I would like to sing, Mary, why I love you so
Why your sweet name makes my heart throb
Why the thought of your supreme greatness
Could never bring fear to my soul.
If I gazed on you in your sublime glory
I could not believe that I am your child
O Mary, I would lower my eyes before you!

Mary is the Virgin of the New Heart

Mary, overshadowed by the Spirit of God, is the Virgin of the new heart, who gave a human face to the Word made flesh. She is the Mother Mary. Virgin of wise and contemplative listening who kept and pondered in her heart the events and the words of the Lord. She is the faithful disciple of wisdom, who sought God's Wisdom and allowed herself to be formed and molded by His Spirit, so that in faith she might be conformed to his ways and choices. Thus enlightened, Mary is presented to us as one able to read "the great wonders" which God accomplished in her for the salvation of the humble and of the poor. Mary was not only the Mother of Our Lord; she also became His perfect disciple, the woman of faith. She followed Jesus, walking with the disciples, sharing their demanding and wearisome journey - a journey which required, above all, fraternal love and mutual service. (…)

Interview with Archbishop Emilio Ognjenovic

June 25, 2007, Medjugorje, Interview with Archbishop Emilio Ognjenovic.  Retired Archbishop of the Argentinan archdiocese of Mercedes-Lujan

Archbishop Ognjenovic (center), Fr. Arabia (left) and me (right). Archbishop Emilio Ognjenovic was born in Cetinja, Montenegro.  His father was also from Cetinja and his mother was from central Dalmatia. Both of his parents died 19 hours apart.  He became an orphan at the age of ten. His mother was sick a very long time and she died when she was 33 years old. She left an infant only four months old behind her. His father was devoted to his mother and he took care of her for a number of years. He died hours after her because of the sorrow he felt at her death. The bishop expressed that he thinks this was a beautiful witness that needs to be shared today when we live in a world where there is a crisis in marriage and in the family. When his parents died he became a mother and father at the age of a ten, and a friend to his younger brothers. The family was taken in by their grandmother who was so poor that they hardly had food. His grandmother thought of his future and sent him off far away to school. He went to school near the shrine of Our Lady of Lujan,  the patron of Argentina.  The bishop stated that after 15 years of ordination, a distant cousin told him the following story; when he mother was pregnant she prayed to God so that he would take me into his service and that I would become his priest. And from the moment she found out that she was pregnant she went mass on a daily basis and received communion. In the last moment of her life, the last breath of air she took, she embraced our Ladies figure and her last words were “Mother, I am giving you my life. Jesus, take my son Emilio to become a priest.”

Message of Our Lady given through Mirjana, July 02, 2007.

Dear children!
In the great love of God, I come to you today to lead you on the way of humility and meekness. The first station on that way, my children, is confession. Reject your pride and kneel down before my Son. Comprehend, my children, that you have nothing and you can do nothing. The only thing that is yours and what you possess is sin. Be cleansed and accept meekness and humility. My Son could have won with strength, but He chose meekness, humility and love. Follow my Son and give me your hand so that, together, we may climb the mountain* and win. Thank you!

Again Our Lady spoke about the importance of priests and their blessing.

*Our Lady referred to the spiritual climb.

John Paul II Believed that the Blessed Mother is appearing in Medjugoerje.

John Paul II Pope John Paul II many times expressed his faith in Medjugorje. The late Cardinal Tomasek had made public the Holy Father's remark in his presence, "If he were not Pope he would like to go to Medjugorje to help at the work with the pilgrims." The Holy Father had invited numerous priests and bishops to go there. He had received several of the Medjugorje visionaries, (1) among them Mirjana Dragicevic. Upon visiting Rome in 1987 he spoke for 20 minutes with her in private. The visionary states that she will reveal nothing about this conversation for the time being, apart from these words of the Holy Father: "If I were not the Pope, I would be in Medjugorje already." (In March, 2004, she received an invitation from Pope John Paul II to come to the Vatican to meet with him again. His declining health, however, prevented the meeting from taking place).

Immaculate Conception, Mary, my Mother.

Live in me. Act in me. Speak in and through me.

Think your thoughts in my mind. Love, through my heart.

Give me your dispositions and feelings.

Teach, lead and guide me to Jesus.

Correct, enlighten and expand my thoughts and behavior.

Possess my soul. Take over my entire personality and life.

Replace it with yourself.

Incline me to constant adoration and thanksgiving.

Pray in me and through me.

Let me live in you and keep me in this union always.

“Dear children! Today I am calling you to be people of prayer. Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and a meeting with the Most High. He will transform your hearts and you will become people of love and peace. Do not forget, little children, that Satan is strong and wants to draw you away from prayer. You, do not forget that prayer is the secret key of meeting with God. That is why I am with you to lead you. Do not give up on prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

MARIAN CONSECRATION

I, (name), a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in your hands, O Immaculate Mother, the vows of my Baptism; I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works; and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before.
In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose you this day for my Mother and Queen. I deliver and consecrate to you, as your slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present, and future; leaving to you the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to your good pleasure, for the greater glory of God, in time and eternity. Amen.
