On the second day of the apparitions, most of the visionaries were out in the fields collecting tobacco leaves. They finished their work a little earlier than usual, whereupon Ivanka, Mirjana, Vicka, and Ivan Dragidevic decided to return to the hill.
Vicka describes the events of this day in an interview with Finabar O’Leary: “On this particular day Milka was not able to come, as she was doing some chores for her mother. Marija and Jacov asked us ‘If you really get to see Our Lady, why don’t you call us to join you. We don’t have to see Her, but we would like to be there.’ As we got to the place Our Lady was already standing there and seemed to be waiting for us. I rushed back to get Marija and Jacov. Mirjana and Ivanka waited at the foot of Podbrdo. We all got together and started to climb. We did not feel the stones or thorn bushes. That was not a problem. We seemed to be taken by the hand, by Our Lady. It felt like we were flying. We did not get a scratch or hurt ourselves at all. That was the first time that we were so near to Her. We were right at her feet.”
In a further report to Fr. Tomislav, Vicka said: “Mirjana complained to Our Lady: ‘Dear Our Lady, they will not believe us when we go home. They will tell us that we are crazy.’ Our Lady just smiled.”
Two facts about this second day are significant: 1) a permanent body of visionaries was formed on this day, and 2) Our Lady would later request that this day, June 25, 1981, would be remembered as the anniversary of her apparition.
